England vs Nigeria: Omeruo speaks on Super Eagles’ 2-1 lost to Three Lions

Chelsea defender, Kenneth Omeruo has reacted to Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to England in a pre-World Cup friendly game played at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

Eagles conceded two goals from Gary Cahill and Harry Kane in the first half before responding with an Alex Iwobi strike after the break.

Omeruo was introduced at half-time as replacement for Leon Balogun as Rohr shifted to three at the back.

The centre-back and John Ogu ensured that the three times African champions did not concede in the second half.

The 24-year-old, however, revealed that coach Gernot Rohr has informed the players to be prepared to change formation during the friendly.

”The team is more comfortable playing four (man defense) but the manager said we have to be ready to change,” Omeruo told reporters.

”He wants his team to be able to play depending on the formation the other opponent is playing and we saw the difference in today’s game, it was a big difference. ”

Asked if it was easier to respond to the England players because he’s a Chelsea player, Omeruo said: ”I think I will say a bit. We are all watch the Premier League, and I know some of the guys as well, so we just knew as a team we had to fight in the second half.

”We lost but it was a good second half, the crowd was amazing, Nigerians came out to support and you could see they were not disappointed at the final whistle.”

Nigeria will face Czech Republic in their next warm up game on Wednesday, before heading out to Russia and getting their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign underway in two weeks’ time.
