England vs Germany, Brazil: Dele Alli, Kane, Winks withdraw

Harry Kane and Harry Winks of Tottenham have withdrawn from the England squad while West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore has been called up as a replacement.

Kane and Winks both picked up minor injuries in Totteham’s win over Crystal Palace at the weekend, ruling them out of England’s friendly matches against Germany and Brazil.

Earlier, midfielder Dele Alli had withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s squad, while there are injury concerns over Gary Cahill and Jordan Henderson.

Harry Kane was given the armband for England’s games against France and Scotland earlier this year. Getty Winks twisted his ankle against Crystal Palace on Sunday while Kane took a kick to his foot in the same game.

Chelsea defender, Gary Cahill, despite playing in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, is due to be assessed by his club before joining up.

Jordan Henderson, who missed Liverpool’s win over West Ham with a thigh problem, is due to arrive later in the week.

England face Germany on Friday at Wembley and host Brazil at the same venue four days later as Gareth Southgate begins his preparations for the 2018 World Cup.
