England open to appointing foreigner as new manager

The Football Association has admitted that they could replace Roy Hodgson with a foreign manager.

Hodgson resigned on Monday night, after England were dumped out of the European Championship by minnows, Iceland.

A few English coaches have been linked with the vacant post, but the FA’s chief executive, Martin Glenn, says they will extend their search all over the continent.

“We’ll be looking at the best person for the job,” Glenn said at England’s final press conference in Chantilly on Tuesday.

“I’m not here to talk about names today. I’ve been consistent on this. We’re looking for the best person, not the best Englishman.”

Glenn, technical director Dan Ashworth and FA vice-chairman, David Gill, have been tasked with finding a new manager for the Three Lions.
