Enenche Enenche: Did Akume, Tivs underdevelop Idomaland?

One of the dreaded diseases that have plagued the mindsets of so many of my people, is addressing issues from sentimental points of view and not sound ideological points.

Issues are supposed to be ideologically driven if it must stand the test of time. Sentiments don’t see far, sentiments don’t see beyond certain limits and boundaries.

Those who are good in manipulating people with the tool of Machiavelli have succeeded in infesting the thinking faculty of so many with this dangerous venom.

Why blaming Akume or Tivs for Onjeh’s political exploits? They are saying this and not focusing on the realities at hand.

Those who are beneficiaries of this thought, know what they are out to achieve, “divide and rule”. But it won’t work again. Lies have its limits and I think their limits is here.

Why are some of us quick to blame Akume?

Was it the Tivs or Akume that were responsible for Dan Onjeh’s exploits at NANS and WASU?

Is Akume also responsible for the poor state of Federal Road in Otukpo?

Are the Tivs responsible for the dilapidated state of famous Och’Idoma road and the abandoned Och’Idoma palace?

Is Akume also responsible for the non implementation of The Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP) across Benue Zone C?

Some of us are quick to blame Tivs or Akume, we accuse Akume of enslaving Idomas, but we have forgotten that Akume had raised many Idomas who are still politically relevant till today.

Comrade Abba Morro, Ezekiel Adaji among others, are products of Akume “enslavement” school of thoughts.

A leader is remembered for how many men he raised and not used.

Today, we see a leader who used men rather than making them, we empowered the weak to frustrate the strong.

There was a time Idomas had vibrant members at the House of Reps making great exploits; the likes of Hons David Idoko, Agbo Ogah, Solomon Agidani, Nelson Alapa among others, had outstanding representations at the house of reps, but today, the story is different, “strong and smart men must be isolated from power” this is the ideology upon which competence, intelligence and efficiency, perished on the altar of mediocrity and sycophancy… One man dictates who gets what!

One man has raised people, he raised sycophants and not men with strong will. He raised weak men to frustrate the strong, and now these men are not intellectually fit to drive down his ideology, if at all there is any.

He raised some people, but the clog of Machiavelli which he placed on their wheel, couldn’t make them to rise above the limits he set.

Akume “enslavement” of Idomas has produced Audu Ogbeh, Aba Moro, Ezekiel Adaji among others.

Those “we” produced, have either grounded by the same hands that produced them, so that they can’t rise above set limits.

Where is Grace Ogwuche, Agbo Ogah, Jerry Agada, Mathias Oyigeya, among others. How politically relevant are they today?

We ‘lifted’ them, but killed their relevance. We are specialist in “use and dump”.

If Akume is helping us to raise strong men, it is not a bad idea. We need true freedom and if it comes from anywhere, it is a welcome development.

Akume or Tivs are not our problems, our problems are ‘we’.

We could bring a College of Health Sciences to Otukpo, but we couldn’t upgrade Otukpo General Hospital.

We could bring a Dam in Otukpo, but we never gave Otukpo pipe borne water.

Media hype greeted the commissioning of NTA Otukpo, but today the station is off air.

We are quick to shift blame, but who are we to blame for the sorry state of Federal Road Otukpo… Is Akume also responsible?

We call an undergraduate whose school fees is over 300,000 Naira and gave him 20,000 Naira, instead of calling it pocket money, we call it scholarship… this can only happen in an environment where poverty and hunger reign supreme.

These deceptions must stop, lets attack issues and not sentiments… I won’t be surprised if Akume is the one responsible for Idomas not having Apa State.

I rest my case.
