Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can has blasted Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho for his treatment of former German midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger has been dumped out of the United first team by Mourinho, who is desperate to offload him in the January window, having vowed that the former Bayern Munich midfielder will not play under him.
Reports came last week that the 32-year-old may be included in the United’s matchday squad ahead of the Swansea City game after he was called back into the first team. But the Portuguese explained that the German was only used for training purposes.
The Liverpool midfielder, angry for the treatment being meted on his countryman, said Schweinsteiger is not respected at Old Trafford.
Can said, “I know Schweinsteiger very well. I used to play with him. He’s a very good guy and he’s a legend.
“I don’t know what happened there. I think they don’t have too much respect for him.
“It’s a pity because he’s a very good guy. He’s always somebody who works hard and is always a gentleman, always a true guy.
“When I came up to the first team he was the first one who came to me and said, ‘If you need something come to me.’
“It was a big help for me and I’m very thankful for that. I will never forget it.”
