Emir Sanusi: Kwankwaso’s father pledges loyalty to new Karaye emirate after Ganduje’s in

Musa Kwankwaso, the District head of Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State and father of a former governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has dumped Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

He switched allegiance to Emir of Karaye, Ibrahim Abubakar II shortly after the turbaning by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Daily Nigerian News reports.

According to the final amended copy of the law establishing the new emirates, the Emir of Kano was allocated Kano Municipal, Tarauni, Dala, Nassarawa, Fagge, Gwale, Kumbotso and Ungogo Local Government Areas.

Thus, Kwankwaso’s father, being the head of Madobi, is now answerable to the Emir of Karaye emirate, which his district falls under.

While some district heads defied the new changes by either resigning or opting to remain in Kano, Kwankwaso, however, pledged loyalty to the new emir.

The newly-appointed emirs were – Aminu Ado-Bayero (Bichi); Tafida Ila (Rano); Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Gaya) and Ibrahim Abubakar ll (Karaye).

All Emirs would have equal powers and are to be on same first class status as Sanusi.

Their installation took place 48 hours after a State High Court stopped the governor, the State House of Assembly and the Attorney-General from implementing the splitting of the Kano Emirate.

The ex parte motion dated May 10, 2019, was filed by the plaintiff, Hon. Sule Gwarzo, before Justice Nasiru Saminu.

In an order of interim injunction, the court directed all parties in this suit to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The governor had on Saturday said he was not aware of the injunction.
