Britain’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch, AAIB, who are searching for missing Cardiff City striker, Emiliano Sala, on Wednesday said it is “likely” that two seat cushions that washed up on the French shore this week were from the missing plane carrying the Argentine footballer.
Sala was travelling from Nantes to the Welsh capital to join his team-mates following his £15million move when his plane went missing over the English Channel on January 21.
Sala’s plane was lost from the radar as it crossed the English Channel and the 28-year-old is now feared dead.
A statement from the AAIB reads: “On the morning of Monday January 28, we were advised by the Bureau d’Enquetes & d’Analyses, the French safety investigation authority, that part of a seat cushion had been found on a beach near Surtainville on the Cotentin Peninsula.
“A second cushion was found in the same area later that day.
“From a preliminary examination, we have concluded that it is likely that the cushions are from the missing aircraft.”
