Emmanuel Emenike has vowed to do something ‘spectacular’ with Fenerbahce this week.
The former Super Eagles striker, scored twice as the Turkish giants defeated Monaco in a Champions League qualifier in midweek.
Emenike was forced out of the club after falling out with the fans and spent the last season at Al Ain of Dubai and then West Ham in England.
However, it appears the 29-year-old is ready to open a fresh chapter at the club.
“I know the expectations of the fans and the club, so I am working hard to do something spectacular this new season,” Emenike told AfricanFootball.com
“My biggest priority is to keep scoring goals for Fenerbahce. I also want to win trophies with the club again.
“This is not my best; I am just ready to give all again. I am only paying for the lost time. I am not as bad as the way I was criticised in the past, but I am ready to prove a lot again.
“I hope to entertain the fans with top form throughout the season. I am still a top striker, and I wish to forget the past and look for the future.”
Emenike has certainly been boosted by his double in a 2-1 home win over Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday and he said he hopes to recover from a calf injury ahead of next week’s second leg in France.
“I’m excited with the two goals and the victory over Monaco, but I think I have to do more and looking forward to be part of the return leg,” Emenike further told the website.
“We are aware of their threat and that’s why I must be ready to do more. Scoring two goals against Monaco has reduced the pressure on me, but I believe I still have more work to do.
“Just like every other players in the team, I am very optimistic that we will qualify ahead of Monaco. I am very positive and I won’t allow the two goals to go to waste at this crucial stage.
“Fenerbahce are a Champions League club and we must be there with our fans, who have been very supportive.”
