Al Ain striker, Emmanuel Emenike has emerged as a major doubt for Nigeria’s AFCON qualifying match against Tanzania.
The Super Eagles player suffered a muscle injury in the Super Cup game against Al Nasr, which Al Ain won 4-2, with Emenike scoring a brace during the encounter.
Emenike, who is on a season-long loan deal from Fenerbahce, was left out of the starting team by coach Zlatko Dalic on the team doctor’s recommendation, in order not to aggravate the injury.
He will now miss the Arabian Gulf League opener against Al Dhafra on Friday.
It remains to be seen if he will be fit for selection, when the Eagles travel to Dar Es Salaam next month.
