Chelsea Technical Director, Michael Emenalo, has revealed that he sent flowers to Leicester City, for allowing N’Golo Kante move to Stamford Bridge last summer.
Kante emerged as a key member of the Leicester side under Claudio Ranieri, that won the Premier League title in the 2015/2016 campaign.
Emenalo, who was present as Kante received his Football Writers’ Association (FWA) trophy on Thursday night, admits Chelsea were “lucky” to sign the midfielder.
“We got lucky. I sent flowers to Leicester for letting us have him,” Standard.co.uk quotes the former Nigeria international as saying.
Kante also told Standard.co.uk:”Next season will be a new challenge because we are going to try to keep the title, to win the two cups [FA Cup and EFL Cup] and also we’ll have the Champions League.”
“For a club like Chelsea, we want to win everything, we’re going to try and win everything. It’s a new challenge for everyone.”
