Senate President Bukola Saraki has called on the aggrieved Niger Delta Avengers to sheathe their swords and embrace dialogue.
This was contained in a speech to mark anniversary of the 8th senate.
Saraki, who noted that the ongoing security challenges in the Niger Delta region calls for great concern, urged the “warring militants to embrace our democratic institutions and channel their grievances through appropriate quarters as we cannot afford to further damage the ecosystem”
“We also encourage the government to adopt dialogue and engagement as a more lasting option towards resolving this challenge.”
Saraki called on leaders in the Niger Delta area to ensure through mediation that the current situation is comprehensively quelled.
He further urged the group to borrow a leaf from past militants leaders who were open to dialogue with the government
