Sheriff
For refusing to honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the anti-graft agency has vowed to declare former Borno State, governor Ali Modu Sheriff wanted.
The former governor was accused of misappropriation, embezzlement of funds and abuse of office while he was governor of the state between 2003 and 2011.
The Commission’s spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, made this disclosure yesterday during a press conference in Abuja.
Uwujaren said Modu Sheriff had been summoned to appear before the Commission on Thursday, April 23, at 10am for questioning but he was yet to honour the invitation, hence the Commission was set to exercise one of its options, which was declaring him wanted.
It was alleged that part of the N300 billion Sheriff’s administration received from the Federation Account during the period may not have been judiciously spent.
