Gov. Martin Elechi
Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday grilled a former governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi.
It was gathered that Elechi arrived at the Wuse, Abuja office of the commission at 10 am, along with some former cabinet members.
He was accused of misappropriating public funds while in office.
The former governor, who left office on May 29, after a second term, could not be quizzed while in office by the commission because he had constitutional immunity against prosecution.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the development to newsmen in Abuja, noted that Elechi was being interrogated following allegations of misappropriation of public funds.
