The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Jigawa State has confirmed that all the sensitivities materials will arrived at all the 27 local government areas of the state by 10pm today.
The confirmation was made by the Jigawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Muhammad Isah, while briefing newsmen at the commission’s headquarters in Dutse.
He explained that the commission has began the process of sorting out sensitive materials since yesterday, and was hoping to finish by 5pm.
Isah added that the commission will begin distribution of the sensitive materials by 7pm hoping to dispatched the items to all the 27 local government councils before 10pm of today, Wednesday.
He said in its effort to conduct free and fair election after the postponement of the election, the commission has involved all the relevant stallholders while sending the materials back to the CBN to ensure the safety of the materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He however stated that the commission had recruited 20,000 ad hoc staff for the conduct of the election and had provided additional 325 card readers as a backup.
The REC added that the commission is committed to ensuring that the exercise is transparent , as it invited all relevant stakeholders to witness the exercise.
