The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said it has petitioned the United Nations against the military over its role in the last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.
It would be recalled that the main opposition party had alleged of intimidation, harrassment, killings and suppression against the electorate particularly in the PDP strongholds.
PDP, therefore, accused the military of direct involvement in the country’s election and, in effect, abetted the elements of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to rig the said polls in favour of President Muhammadu Buhari.
PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan disclosed this while briefing newsmen after the party’s emergency meeting of the PDP’s expanded National caucus in Abuja.
Also, Ologbondiyan affirmed that part of the issues discussed at the meeting was that the PDP had resolved to go to the tribunal and, to reach the end of every legal opportunity to restore its alleged stolen mandate by the APC.
In his words, “PDP has resolved to go to the tribunal and avail itself of every legal opportunity to restore its stolen mandate.
“We also discussed the role of the military, police and other security agencies causing harrassment, intimidation and suppression of PDP voters across the federation.
“We have reviewed the situation in Kano and consequently appealed the judgment against our PDP governorship candidate.
“Issues concerning the harrassment and intimidation of our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar was as well discussed.
“On all of this, we have petitioned the United Nations against the military over its role during the presidential and National Assembly elections”.
However, Ologbondiyan wondered why Buhari and his handlers were jittery over the PDP option to seek a legal redress, saying if, indeed, the APC won the presidential election as declared by INEC, they need not to worry.
