The Abia state Commissioner of Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, has slammed opposition parties in the state over its penchant for spreading lies and propaganda to the public in order to discredit the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led government.
The Commissioner, particularly took a swipe at the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Alex Otti, saying the ex-banker lacked ideas of governance.
Kalu, who spoke with newsmen in Umuahia, on Tuesday, said, “We are careful to respond to paid guerrilla journalists, who have taken up arms against a government that is being hailed for having performed, with several signature projects to show for it.
“What is even more painful is that the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr. Alex Otti has joined in this same course. Worst of all is that he sources his news from Facebook and other social media platforms. He is completely ignorant of how the state works, yet he still wants to be governor.”
Kalu also disclosed that the administration since its inception till December 31st had received N158 billion, spent N99 billion on salaries, subventions to parastatal and pensions.
He said, “The government has also embarked on massive reconstruction and renovation of classroom blocks as well.”
