Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife
Elder statesman and former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has vowed to sue former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for libel in his new book ” Accidental Public Servant”
The ace politician told newsmen in Abuja that he had received several calls from friends and associates, who were concerned about the claims made by the former minister in his latest book.
According to him, El-Rufai in his book claimed that he was involved in a land scam, saying that his claims were not only untrue but malicious.
The ex Governor said, “I received calls saying that from all they know about me, El-Rufai was maligning my name.
“They said El-Rufai claimed in a newspaper, or may be in his book, that myself and Senator Zwingina were aiding land scams.
“All he is talking about is where I am now; I have no other piece of land any where. I collected the allocation paper from Alhaji Kalgo, the officer in charge.
“I went to NIA and said I heard that this land is vacant and I want it. They came down and we walked around this whole place which was full of rocks.
“They said, you are the first person to come to say you want to build here. Your own does not disturb us; it is those people who built on hills.
“They also said we cannot build because we haven’t got the power to allocate land, and we should go to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and get allocation.”
Speaking further, he explained that he followed due process without prejudice.
Ezeife further explained that he received a duly signed allocation from Alhaji Kalgo who was the officer in charge at the time. He said his claims could be verified from the officers in charge who were still alive.
