Ekwueme: Doyin Okupe blasts Buhari over plan to send ex-VP abroad for treatment

Doyin Okupe, former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Nigeria’s ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has slammed the Buhari government over its plan to send former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, abroad for medical treatment.

DAILY POST reports that Ekwueme, 85, during the week collapsed was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State.

Okupe, a member of the Accord Party, described the decision to fly Ekwueme abroad as “unnecessary”, stressing that “there are limits to propaganda.”

Okupe tweeted: “The press release on the evacuation of Chief Ekwueme by FG is unnecessary, indecorous & unprofessional. There are limits 2 propaganda”.

Similarly, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has faulted the move.

The group also lamented that the state of the health sector in Nigeria was “gross violation of the Nigerians’ constitutional right to life”.
