Ekweremadu hails Gov. Ugwuanyi over new Egede autonomous community

Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for approving additional autonomous community for Egede, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He equally hailed the Governor for various infrastructural development which he sited in the community.

The Senator spoke after the Egede community adopted him as their candidate for Enugu west senatorial district in the 2019 elections.

The community said the adoption of Senator Ekweremadu was in recognition of the purposeful and quality representation Senator Ekweremadu has accorded the community, the entire senatorial zone and Ndigbo in his sojourn in the Senate and the ECOWAS Parliament as the Deputy Senate President and former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament.

A delegation from the community comprising the paramount ruler, HRH Igwe Dr. P. I Oyigbo, the Okwuloha II of Egede Ancient Kingdom, Egede Town Union executives and other stakeholders pledged their loyalty and support during a solidarity visit to Senator Ekweremadu at his Enugu residence over the weekend.

The delegation, which expressed satisfaction with Senator Ekweremadu’s commitment towards the provision of basic infrastructure and human development/empowerment of the community applauded him for attracting the first tarred road in Egede and the completion of a water scheme as well as the ongoing Anekeneze-Umuanum-Okwum erosion control project among others which have had tremendous impact on the economic life of the community. The delegation noted:

“We use this opportunity to thank you for your commitment towards the infrastructural and human development of our community. We are particularly grateful to you for bringing the first tarred road to Egede community and for the completion of a water scheme as well as the ongoing Anekeneze-Umuanum-Okwum erosion control project and for engaging rhe services of several of our sons and daughters in various capacities. These have tremendously enhanced our economic potentials and wellbeing.

“We assure you that our community is 100% behind you and will continue to accord you our unalloyed loyalty and support to continue with your effective and quality representation for us in the Nigerian Senate not forgetting your achievements at the ECOWAS Parliament where you served as Deputy Speaker and Speaker.”w

Responding, Ekweremadu assured them that work on the Udi north ring road has commenced, adding that the community will have more appointments and infrastructures.

The Senator said he was not taking seriously what he called “the antics of Mrs Juliet Ibekaku,” the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, whom he said he had helped severally in the past, saying that as far as he was concerned, she was still a sister.
