The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has recommended that Enugu State and indeed Nigeria should dedicate a day annually for thanksgiving and prayers for peace and prosperity.
Senator Ekweremadu, who was speaking at the annual thanksgiving service organized by Aninri local Government Council of Enugu State, where he comes from, enumerated the many benefits of thanksgiving in life and in the local Government area since the inception of the annual thanksgiving service to include among others, peace, prosperity and most importantly infrastructural development and human capacity development.
According to the Senator ” it is since the inception of this thanksgiving and prayer service that we started recording massive infrastructural developments like the construction of the Ivo Dam projects, the Oduma – Nnewe road projects and so many on going projects in the area.
“I, therefore, wish to recommend it to the Good people of Enugu State and indeed Nigeria.
“You know that in the United States, a day is set aside yearly for special prayers and that must be why they remained the World’s most progressive Country”.
Senator Ekweremadu thanked God for his mercies on Aninri Local Government Area since it’s creation and expressed joy and contentment with the annual thanksgiving service in the Area.
He appreciated God and all those who made it a habit to be part of the thanksgiving annually, including the initiator of the thanksgiving, Hon Mathias Ekweremadu jnr who was the former Chairman of the Council.
Also speaking, the member representing Aninri/ Awgu/Oji-River federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Toby Okechukwu paid glowing tributes to Senator Ekweremadu, whom he said had the capacity to broker peace even in the most challenging situations, attributing the peace presently enjoyed in the State to the maturity exhibited by both Ekweremadu and Governor Sullivan Chime.
In his message at the occasion the Bishop elect, Jesus Prayer Ministry, Jos Platue State, Prophet Silas Asha Adah described thanksgiving as a potent way of presenting the future before God and urged Christians to give thanks to God in all circumstances.
