EKSU VC commends FG for scrapping post-JAMB, bans students from living as couple


The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Prof. Samuel Bandele, has hailed the federal government for the ban on conduct of post-UTME tests.

He also commended the approval given to universities to screen candidates with intention to gain admission with fake results.

At a media conference for the 21st convocation ceremony of the institution slated for Friday, Bankole said the institution had also banned public smoking within the campus.

He also ordered students of opposite sex living together, popularly called “couple life” to stop such forthwith.

The VC announced that a total of 18,685 candidates were to receive degrees, diplomas and post-graduate diplomas.

Of the figure, 3,054 were full-time students, 392 were for Sandwich,10,613 for Affilliate colleges and 3,937 were part-time students.

78 will get their PhD degrees, 366 for Masters, 127 for professional Masters and 118 for Post-Graduate Diploma.

A total of 24 students will receive First Class honours degree, even as some Nigerians, including the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, are to be conferred with honorary Doctoral degrees.
