The Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district, Engr.Chris Ekpenyong has defeated the incumbent, Senator Godswill Akpabio in the National Assembly election held on Saturday.
Announcing the result on Tuesday at the INEC headquarters, Udo Udoma, Uyo the Returning Officer for Ikot Ekpene zone, Prof. Peter Iko Oban, said Ekpenyong polled a total votes of 118,215 to defeat Akpabio, who got 83,158 votes.
The Returning Officer also announced that the total number of registered voters in the senatorial district were 655, 525, accredited votes – 218, 493, valid votes – 202, 387 votes and void votes – 7307.
Similarly, the results for the federal constituency of Ikot Ekpene – Obot Akara – Essien Udim were also announced.
Announcing the result, the returning officer for the Federal Constituency, Dr Daniel Udo, said Nsikak Ekong of the PDP scored 29, 849 to defeat the incumbent Mr Emmanuel Akpan of APC, who scored 22, 052 votes.
