No fewer than 30 armed robbers and 110 convicts who were involved in a jail break have been apprehended by the Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday.
According to a release by the State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Albert Adeyemi, the feat was achieved using the new strategy put in place by the force to ensure the security of lives and property in the State.
The command also applauded the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, for donating patrol vehicles as it will help wipe out robbery and other criminal activities in the state.
Adeyemi further stated that the Command had mobilised foot patrols that will run for 24 hours in satellite towns of Ado Ekiti and remote areas that are not motorable.
“We are determined to tackle crime and criminality headlong in the state. We have put in place many strategies which include ensuring that residents arm themselves and other personnel to aid them when in distress. All these measures have resulted in arrest of armed robbers, burglars and other miscreants,” Adeyemi said.
