Senator Abiodun Olujimi, an aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship ticket for the Ekiti state gubernatorial election, on Tuesday, stepped down for the immediate past spokesman of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.
Olujimi made the disclosure shortly before the commencement of voting at the Dove Hall venue of the primary election in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
According to the serving senator, she opted to step down in the interest of the party.
“For the benefit of our party, I offer myself and I transfer my structure to Prince Adeyeye. Olujimi steps down for Adeyeye,” she said.
Following this development, the race for who becomes PDP’s governorship flag bearer in the state is now between Adeyeye and the current deputy governor, Kolapo Olusola, who is seen as Governor Ayodele Fayose’s preferred candidate.
