Gov Kayode Fayemi
The defense put up by the outgoing administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi over allegations that his administration is engaged in last minutes illegal financial transactions and recruitment of workers into the state’s public service has been described as an afterthought by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State.
The party also alleged that Fayemi’s denials, as articulated by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, and the present Commissioner for Information, Tayo Ekundayo are contradicting each other.
Speaking through a statement released in Ado-Ekiti yesterday by its State Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, the PDP said it had discovered more illegal deals and of the administration.
It described the rebuttal by Fayemi as a statement laced with inconsistencies and deliberate falsification of facts, arguing that it had many facts and evidence to buttress its points, and that Fayemi’s call for the presentation of such would not scare it.
“The Commissioner for Information, Tayo Ekundayo, who in his defence of the allegations, confirmed that the recruitment of workers is an ongoing process, while in another breadth, the administration denied employing new workers,” the PDP said.
Oluwawole reaffirmed the claims that the outgoing government commenced massive recruitment into the civil service, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital and Local Government Service Commission after it was roundly defeated in the June 21 governorship poll.
The statement says, “one of the letters of appointment issued to one Bamikole Bukola Rebecca with reference No EKSUTH/C/005/430 and dated July 1, 2014which was signed by the Acting Director of Administration of the Hospital, Mr Deji Dada, read in part: “With reference to your application for appointment dated 25th June, 2014, I write on behalf of Board of Management to offer you the post of Assistant Executive Officer (GD) at a commence salary of N378,719 per annum in the salary scale of CONHESS 5 step 1 with effect from the date you assume duty.
“At the moment, the Local Government Service Commission is recruiting with sales of employment forms at the rate of N500 per form payable to a Zenith Bank account number 1010750224.
“Tayo Ekundayo in his reaction to our accusation that the outgoing government of the All Progressives Congress has continued with mass recruitment of staff into the civil service and Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital stated that the employment started before the election that ousted his party and that the employment process would not be halted; adding that the PDP should shut up and wait for their time.
“The commissioner has confirmed the ridiculous exercise, the governor still went ahead to deny the fact on ground.
“Is it not ridiculous that the same governor that has continued to deny all these allegations is the one that ordered the redeployment of all the senior staff of the State Housing Corporation from salary grade level 13 and above just to pave the way for the monumental fraud that is being perpetrated there now,” the PDP asserted.
