The panel set up by the Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, to investigate the Livestock Development Centre, Erifun, Ado Ekiti has submitted its report.
Submitting the report to the State Head of Service, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka who received it on behalf of the government, the Chairman of the Panel and Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunji Akinyele said the panel held series of meetings and consultations with stakeholders using the facility.
It will be recalled that Governor Fayose had on 19th June 2017 visited the agric facility and noticed that it was improperly managed; leading to the immediate suspension of the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Ebenezer Abegunde and some Directors.
The Governor, thereafter, set up a panel to investigate the abuse of the facility.
The chairman of the panel expressed optimism that the implementation of the recommendations made by the panel would help in repositioning the facility for better agric production.
In his remarks, the Head of Service, Dr Faseluka said the State must harness all its resources and properly apply them for its development.
Dr. Faseluka who noted that the governor’s regular inspection of government’s facilities and projects led to the discovery of the abuse of the agric facility, which ought to have been used for the development of livestock production in the State.
He added that the State cannot toy with the agricultural sector because of its contribution to the economy of the State.
While assuring that the government would study and make good use of the recommendations of the report, the Head of Service expressed optimism that the panel had addressed all issues highlighted in its terms of reference.
