Ekiti: How my deputy, agents collected money from APC – ADP candidate

The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Segun Adewale has revealed how he was betrayed by his deputy, Anthonia Omonusi, party officials and agents in the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.

All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, was declared the winner.

Adewale, in a statement by the media director of his Campaign Organization, Prince Adelaja Adeoye in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, however, expressed gratitude to the people for the support accorded him.

He said that their involvement in his campaign had further strengthens his resolve not to back down in his quest to lead the state.

Adewale thanked the ADP leadership, across the country, the National Chairman, Engr Y.Y Sani, the BoT Chairman, Chief Alani Bankole, the South West Chairman, Alhaji Lateef Arowosaiye, Ekiti State ADP excos led by Chief Kunle Abegunde, his family, friends, women groups, students, the media and party faithful across the 16 local governments in the state.

Adewale lamented that he was “deserted by polling unit agents, some party excos and the deputy governorship candidate, Anthonia Omonusi, who defected to APC because of money two days to the election.

“They compromised and gave out information about the campaign to opposition.

“It is sad that the same people went ahead spreading propaganda that I have defected to APC which made thousands of my supporters not to cast their votes for ADP.

“Even though there are reports of voters inducement, Ekiti must move forward. Yesterday is gone, today is another day, Let’s work towards a better tomorrow for our dear Ekiti”, the candidate said.

Adewale congratulated the governor-elect, Dr. John Kayode on his electoral victory, charging him to implement people-oriented projects that will have direct impact in the lives of the Ekiti Ketes.

The ADP chieftain charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review its voting method and adopt a full secret ballot system, where voters will drop ballot paper into the box inside the voting cubicle.
