Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has warned his Ondo State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, to tread with caution over his support for former Governor, Kayode Fayemi’s governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the July 14 election.
Fayose speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Monday called on Akeredolu to avoid things that could cause problems in Ekiti.
This is in reaction to the shooting of the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele and five others last week in Ado-Ekiti at APC rally held in honour of Fayemi.
“We want to appeal to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State not to sponsor, not to aid and avoid things that could cause problems in Ekiti, in his attempt to support Dr. Fayemi which I have no objection. It is his right.
“Our campaign has not recorded any incident, there has not been any casualty or harassment, the party has been conducting itself in a very orderly manner because the governor wants it to be so.
“The recent shooting that affected the former honourable member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele is sad, unfortunate, regrettable and avoidable.
“ I want to say that the claim by the police and the APC that the policeman came on illegal duty are make-believe,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, Gov Akeredolu had denied reports of him being behind the shooting.
