A magistrate court sitting in Ado Ekiti has fixed Wednesday, Jan.18, for ruling in a bail application brought in respect of the 3 suspects charged for allegedly stealing huge sum of money at the Ekiti state government House, Ado Ekiti. DAILY POST report that at the resumed sitting on the case, a formal charge sheet was substituted by the prosecution, Mr Osobu Samson (legal representative of t‎he Commissioner of police).

In the sheet, the police charged Bamidele Oguntuase and Afolabi Sunday for offences bordering on burglary, stealing and conspiracy, while the third suspect, Shuaib Ahmadu who is an operator of a bureau de change was charged with receiving stolen money.

He was alleged to have assisted the first two suspects, (both Government House workers) in changing the alleged stolen money, amounting to 20,000 U.S dollars to naira at Mugbagba area of Ado-Ekiti.

According to the prosecution, the offences are punishable under Section 411, 390 and 516 of Criminal Code, Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

Counsels to the defendants, Mr Oluwatosin Osundahunsi and Mr Emmanuel Oladele applied for bail of the accused persons despite the prison remand order earlier placed on the trio.

The counsels urged the Court to exercise its discretion in granting the bail, saying the twin offences of burglary and conspiracy were bailable ones.

Besides, they argued that the court had jurisdiction to admit all the accused persons to bail.

Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye, consequently adjourned the case till Wednesday, Jan. 18 for ruling on the bail application.
