Ekiti election: Why INEC should nullify poll – APC Presidential candidate, Udeogaranya

Charles Udeogaranya, a chieftain and Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to nullify the just conducted governorship election in Ekiti State.

Udeogaranya anchored his call on the fact that the election which saw Kayode Fayemi emerging as the winner was marred by electoral malpractices.

Speaking with Vanguard, the APC chieftain said there was, “evidence of vote buying on the day of the election with such magnitude that has never been witnessed before.”

He said, “I am appalled that with thousands of law-upholding agencies of government, ranging from Police, DSS, Civil Defence and military deployed to ensure the rule of law in supervising the Ekiti governorship election, electoral illegality and malpractices were still the order of the day as videos in social media revealed and as reports showed.

“One of the sacrosanct laws of election is that campaign ceases a day before the election, but shreds of purported evidence of vote buying on the day of the election with such magnitude that has never been witnessed before was beyond comprehension by any civil-minded citizen.

“I, therefore, urge that the election should be nullified if the shreds of evidence are confirmed true and the main purported culprit’s parties (APC and PDP as shown on videos) of massive vote-buying be banned in a rescheduled election.

“We must as a nation and a people who desire a better Nigeria, eschew all manner of corrupt practices and uphold nobility in all ramifications of governance”.
