Ekiti election: Keyamo reacts to Fayemi’s victory, mocks PDP

Festus Keyamo, Director of strategic communications for the re-election campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Kayode Fayemi, as winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.

Fayemi polled 197,459 to beat his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola who polled 178,114 votes.

From the results of the 16 LGAs in the State, Fayemi defeated Olusola in 12 LGAs.

Reacting, Keyamo who mocked the PDP, said the party lost because they were used to winning elections with ‘federal might’ and ‘federal purse’

He wrote on Twitter, ”The only propaganda that was used by the PDP in the Ekiti Governorship contest was the scare tactics of ‘Fulani herdsmen’.

”Now, the result should teach them a lesson that, just like in 2015, these kinds of tactics will not work in 2019. They have truly & honestly run out of ideas

”Since the 2015 general elections, PDP has lost FOUR Guber contests (Kogi, Edo, Ondo & now Ekiti). It won only Bayelsa.

”The clear conclusion is that PDP is not accustomed to contesting elections without their usual ‘federal might’ & ‘federal purse’. So, welcome to the 2019 contest.”
