The Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), Enugu State chapter on Sunday predicted that the Domino-Breeze of Kayode Fayemi’s victory in Ekiti State governorship election would sweep across South-East in the 2019.
BSO made this prediction in a congratulatory message to Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State Governor-elect, for his victory in Saturday’s governorship election in the State.
DAILY POST reports that Mr. Fayemi, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the immediate past Minister of Mines and Steel Development, secured 197,459 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Professor Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 178,121 votes.
Reacting to the victory in a statement on Sunday, Godwin Onwusi Esq., the Enugu State Secretary of BSO, praised the people of Ekiti State for withstanding all forms of intimidation from the non performing incumbent PDP Governor, Ayo Fayose who wanted to foist his deputy, Olusola Eleka, on them.
Onwusi said by voting Mr. Fayemi, the people of Ekiti State have rejected Fayose’s third term, epitomized by his attempt to foist his deputy on the people.
“We of BSO Enugu State Chapter foresee the Domino-Breeze of Fayemi’s victory sweeping the South East in the 2019 general elections, as Ndigbo cannot be left behind the Progressives train. For the domino effect is natural as whatever is good for Nigeria, Ndigbo will benefit.”
“The people of Ekiti State have chosen light instead of darkness, which typified the reign of PDP in Ekiti State. Ekiti state used to be known as the fountain of knowledge. But, under the reign of PDP, the state recorded the poorest performance in WAEC and NECO examinations.
“Rather than improve the fallen standard of education in Ekiti state, Fayose wittingly denied teachers their salaries and resorted to hand outs, which he dubbed stomach infrastructure. Now, the people of Ekiti State have refused to be deceived. By voting for Fayemi, the people have chosen massive human capital and critical infrastructure development, than stomach infrastructure. Ekiti wisely has keyed into the laudable objective of the Economic Recovery and Growth (ERGP) of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration at the federal level,” Onwusi said.
He said by Fayemi’s victory, Ekiti have joined other states of the South-West in the progressives train and by extension, the mainstream of Nigerian politics.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free, fair and transparent election in Ekiti State as confirmed by international observers who were on ground to monitor the governorship polls.
Onwusi therefore urged the Ekiti electorate to replicate the victory of Fayemi in the forthcoming general elections by voting for President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates in both state and national assembly elections.
