Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has appealed to supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to be patient over Kayode Fayemi’s win.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, as the winner after he defeated the current Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kolapo Olusola, in 12 LGAs.

The APC candidate garnered 197,459 votes, while Olusola polled 178,114 votes.

Reacting to PDP defeat, Atiku urged the supporters to be patient with the party and avoid violence as the party decides next step after the defeat.

On his verified Twitter page, he wrote “I urge all PDP supporters in Ekiti to remain peaceful and orderly and cooperate with our party as they determine the next steps.

“Be assured however that I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with you and your leaders.”
