Chidike Ukauwa, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia state, Monday told the outgoing Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose to prepare to be ready to be imprisoned after handing over, for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for the development of the state.
Ukauwa expressed disappointment that despite huge funds that accrued to Ekiti state, Fayose allegedly failed to bring democracy dividends to the people of Ekiti.
He commended the people of Ekiti state for their massive support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, during Saturday’s gubernatorial poll, assuring that the governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi would live up to expectations.
Ukauwa, who spoke on Monday shortly after returning from Ekiti state, criticized Fayose for his inability to clear backlogs of salaries owed to civil servants in Ekiti.
He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the governor to ascertain the root of billions of naira he allegedly wasted during last Saturday’s election in Ekiti.
According to the governorship hopeful,”I must thank the people of Ekiti state for their overwhelming support to APC during the last Saturday election.
“They have expressed themselves by voting massively for Dr. Kayode Fayemi. And I strongly believe that the governor-elect would transform Ekiti, and bring in his wealth of experience.
“Also, on my arrival to Ekiti state last Friday, I learnt that Ekiti workers are being owed salaries. And Fayose has been receiving money from the federal government. I think, EFCC should look into the finances of Ekiti.
” Even in my state, Abia, the governor is not paying salaries. Come 2019, what happened in Ekiti would also happened in Abia.”
