The national leadership of the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, Monday condemned last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti state, describing the poll as ‘a fraud of the greatest monumental proportion’.

National chairman of GPN, Chief Sam Eke, who disclosed his party’s position on the Ekiti election in chat with DAILY POST on Monday, explained that the election was hijacked by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, adding that the outcome of the just-concluded election was not the wish of the people of Ekiti state.

He said, “The Ekiti state election is sham. In our last consultative meeting with INEC, we were told that the military will not be involved in that election, but were involved.

“So, if it is to win an election, and there will large deployment of military men as if were at war; the Nigerian people should now expect the worse case scenario in 2019.

“But I tell you, the people with their willpower within the provision of the constitution, will resist such rape on democracy of this country. So,officially, we are saying, that election was a fraud of the greatest monumental proportion in the history of our election.

“And is a very big disappointment. This is not the wish of the people of Ekiti state. We condemn that election in its entirety. Even the national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole granted a news interview that they will win Ekiti. That they must win Ekiti state, whether good or bad.

“Such utterances coming from chairman of a political party, that eventually won the election, shows that the election was rigged”.
