As early results into the Ekiti governorship election surfaces, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says its candidate, Ayo Fayose is coasting home to victory.
In a telephone interview with DailyPost, Mr. Lere Olayinka, Fayose’s media aide, said the party was proud of the performance of security agencies as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“Ayo Fayose is coasting home. The people have spoken with one voice. Go to the polling units and see things for yourself.
“Ekitis want Fayemi out and this is what is happening. Forget what APC leaders are saying from Lagos. They’ve all been defeated.”
Olayinka further urged INEC not to fall for blackmail and intimidation from the APC.
“They have been doing a good job and Mr. Fayose as well as the entire PDP enourage them not to relent.”
Statistics from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, shows that the state’s Gender Distribution of Voter Population is: Females: 371, 419 (51%); Males: 360, 747 (49%).
Although accreditation was initially slow, it later picked up with many having their voters’ cards authenticated.
The election is being keenly followed by Nigerians both home and abroad, likewise the international community.
