The dust raised by the impeachment of the Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin and his deputy, Adetunji Orisalade is yet to settle, as the ousted Speaker insists he is still the Speaker of the State Assembly.

Omirin and Orisalade were replaced by Dele Olugbemi and Adunni Modupe Olayinka as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectfully.

Wale Olujobi, Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker told DAILY POST that “just like on Monday, they were shielded by policemen in a convoy of several cars bearing registration numbers of Government House vehicles. They didn’t allow reporters in. They brought just one reporter into the chamber while members of NUJ in the state were not informed. By the time journalists heard of the sitting and raced to the Assembly, they had already concluded their assignment.

Olujobi further disclosed that the sacked Speaker, Omirin has, however declared that he is still the Speaker and that members of the APC will resume duties at the House next Monday to take over the leadership of the House.
