Ekiti: APC chieftain Bamidele undergoes surgery, bullets extracted

Ekiti All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and a former House of Representatives member, Opeyemi Bamidele has undergone surgery.

The surgical process, it was gathered, ended early Saturday morning.

Bamidele was one of the six people bullets hit when a mobile policeman opened fire during the APC rally for governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi at the party’s secretariat on Friday.

The ex-lawmaker and the other victims were rushed to the hospital.

Nation reports that two bullets were extracted from his body after a five-hour surgery.

One of the bullets was removed from his abdominal region and the other from his leg.

Bamidele also received blood transfusion on admission to replenish the blood he had lost following the shooting.

The politician is reportedly in stable condition at the health facility which was not made public for security reasons.

Those who have visited him and the other victims include Fayemi and his wife, Bisi; legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola; former Ekiti State Governor, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo; APC gubernatorial aspirants, Senator Ayo Arise and Mr. Victor Kolade.
