Ekiti 2018: We are out to rescue Ekiti from collapse – MPN

Chairman of Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) in Ekiti State, Chief Dare Adekolu, has said that it is imperative to rescue Ekiti State from the path of collapse that successive administrations put it.

Adekolu lamented that rather than better the lot of people, the present administration in the state had compounded the socio-economic situation, leaving the populace burdened and worse off.

The MPN boss told journalists in Ado Ekiti that the need to put the state back on course and make it great again informed his party’s determination and resolve to take over Ekiti State Government House through the July 14 governorship election.

He said: “The state of our state today calls for attention of responsible and well-meaning citizens. We should not close our eyes and allow our state to continue in this trend, hence our resolve to use the MPN platform to right the wrongs and place our state on the pedestal of development.

“The present government, instead of solving the economic problems of the state is adding to them. The last APC government put the debt burden of over N50 billion on the state, but today the present PDP administration has raised the debt profile to over N100 billion, yet nothing to show for it.

“The textile mill is now shops, the Ire Block is now dead, look at the economic loss from these in terms of revenue and job creation. The Igbemo Rice is not activated, nothing is forthcoming on cocoa which is available in huge commercial value in Ise and Emure. The plight of civil servants and teachers is worrisome. These should not be allowed to continue”.

Adekolu, who assured that an intelligent, experienced, competent and capable person would emerge as MPN candidate for the July election, said this was in view of the huge assignment of reconstructing the state that the incoming governor, which he said would be from his party, would be saddled with.

He said the MPN would prioritise agriculture, using mechanised farming, education, infrastructure development, health, youths and women development among others to develop the state.
