Ekiti 2018: Endorsement of Fayose’s deputy divine – Speaker‎, Kola Oluwawole

Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kola Oluwawole, has revealed why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in the state unanimously endorsed the state deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola, as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2018 governorship election in the state.

The speaker, in a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, noted that the nation had become adrift and that there was the need to seek the face of God on every step needed to be taken, at the local, state and federal governments.

He said the stakeholders, comprising the leaders of the PDP “right from the wards, local governments and the entire state made the decision.

“We want a divine decision. And we worked towards it. We all impressed it on the governor that he should seek for the face of God to choose for us who to succeed him in our party. And that was what he did. He is a listening governor.

“He (Fayose) said his deputy would not succeed him, we didn’t argue. But when it was time for us to decide his successor, we committed it to God. And that person is the God’s chosen. So, Fayose has no choice other than to fulfill the will of God.

“It’s God in action! He had to capitulate. He did not upturn the wish of the PDP stakeholders in the state. And that is what I believe is the hallmark of a true leader.

“That is why I am congratulating professor Olusola as the next governor of Ekiti State. There are going to be primaries in as many political parties as are willing to contest. But that does not mean that the wish of Ekiti people will not stand. The people have chosen you. They did that by the people they put forward to represent them in our great party, the PDP. You are the next governor of Ekiti State by the special grace of God.

“It is not anybody’s doing. It is God’s; a result of divine ‎arrangement, nurtured by your kindness, humility, dedication, commitment to the education of Ekiti people and their overall welfare and loyalty to your leaders, both in academics and politics. I congratulate you!”

Oluwawole appealed to the people of the state to continue to support the continuity agenda of the Ayo Fayose-led administration, noting that it was a strategy to sustain the unprecedented development of the state “which is the hallmark of the Fayose political movement.”
