As the governorship election in Ekiti State draws nearer, the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has advised parents not to allow their children to be use by politicians as thugs.
The State Director of NOA in Ekiti, Mr Dayo Famosaya gave this advice yesterday during a sensitization programme on security consciousness in Emure Ekiti.
In his welcome address, Famosaya also advised youths to be careful of their ways of lives and be conscious of wherever they go in search of jobs.
He lamented that many youths don’t want to work using their potentials since there were no government jobs available, but were only interested in making quick money by involving in criminal acts.
He advised parents to watch out and be conscious of the job adverts on social media and job interviews that their children attended, especially those desperate to get job. He said some have attended job interviews and never returned.
Also one of the speakers at the event, Reverend Father Pius Famosaya called on citizens to be conscious of posting all information concerning them and their family relatives on social media as this may constitute threat to their lives and properties.
“It is worrisome how people today put all information about their lives, family, friends and relatives on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and the likes. Criminals get information from those sources. Some even go to the length of posting all their movements on facebook.
“The notorious kidnapper, Evans that was arrested recently told security men that he got some information about some of his victims through facebook”, he said.
Also representatives of Nigeria Police, Mrs Linda Imokwede and that of the Civil Defence Corps, Mr Zacheaus Emmanuel said Emure Ekiti has been peaceful in terms of security in Ekiti State.
They called for useful information that would help security agents perform their duties by exposing criminals and cultivating habits of vigilance.
The Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Oba Emmanuel Adebowale commended NOA for the programme as he said the agency had affected the society positively through their programmes. He advised the people to make use of all the lectures and information given to them for the benefit of a good society.
