Eid el-Kabir: Government bans social gatherings in Kaduna

As part of the measures to protect lives and property in Kaduna State and environs, the State Government has banned all forms of social gathering during the Eid el-Kabir festival.

The statement which was issued on Wednesday in Kaduna by Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, to Governor Nasiru el-Rufai, assured that adequate security measures had been taken to ensure a peaceful celebration.

It read in part: “No recreational centre or Amusement park should be opened to the public during the celebrations. All parks and recreational centres, including Gamji Gate Park, the Amusement Park, Kaduna, and other related places will not be opened for social gatherings.

“The Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna, will, as usual, host Eid prayers. It will, however, not be opened for any social gathering or celebration except for the Eid Prayers.”

The statement urged increased vigilance, asserting that security personnel had been deployed to various places of worship and prayer grounds to maintain law and order.

“Government regrets any inconvenience that may arise from such restrictions and security activity and wishes the Muslim Ummah successful and hitch-free Sallah celebrations throughout the State.

“The people of Kaduna State are encouraged to report to the nearest security agency any suspicious persons or groups engaging in unusual activity,” the statement said.
