Egypt will not be part of both the men and women’s football events, of the 2015 All Africa Games scheduled to hold in Congo Brazzaville next month.

The North African nation’s decision, was confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), but no reason was given for their withdrawal.

Egypt were billed to face Samson Siasia’s Dream Team VI, Ghana and Senegal in Group B of the men’s event, while the women are grouped with Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa.

CAF will fill the two slots with Burundi (men) and Senegal (women). This is according to Article 19 (B) of the regulations which states “If a team withdraws after having qualified for the Final Tournament, but before the actual start of the Final Tournament, the Organizing Committee may replace it by the last team it has eliminated, if the circumstances are favourable…”

The All Africa Games will hold from September 6 to 18.
