The Egypt Football Association has cancelled its proposed friendly match with Nigeria in January 2017, because of disagreements with Nigerian authorities on match expenses.
According to reports, the Egypt FA are not willing to bear all the expenses for the game and have gone ahead to fix another match with Tunisia about the same time.
The friendly between Egypt and Nigeria was scheduled to be played on January 9 in Dubai.
Another reason for the cancellation, is that the Super Eagles will not be at full strength for the encounter.
“It has not yet been officially confirmed but it is looking very likely that the friendly against Egypt in Dubai in January will no longer hold,” a top official informed Vanguard.
The NFF, however, insisted on Monday, that they have not heard from the Egypt FA and were still committed to the January date for the match.
“We have not received any message to that effect as at today (Sunday) from the Egypt FA. I don’t know anything about that,” the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, said.
