Labaran Maku
Erstwhile minister of Information, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the April 11 election, Mr. Labaran Maku, has been stripped of his traditional title of ‘Turakin Eggon’ by the Paramount Ruler of Eggon nation, HRH Bala Angbazo.
Secretary to the traditional council, Mr. Christopher Alaku, who made this known in statement signed by him and made available to newsmen in Lafia, gave no reason for the withdrawal of the title.
Meanwhile, the move is reported not to be unconnected with the manner Maku, who is now the National Secretary of APGA, treated the council of Eggon elders in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.
In Eggon nation’s bid to realize the dream of producing a governor in the state since it is the largest ethnic group, the Eggon traditional council constituted a council of elders to mediate between governorship aspirants of Eggon extraction with a view to fielding a consensus candidate who would get all their votes.
The elders, after wide consultations, endorsed the candidature of Senator Dolomon Ewuga, but that was rejected by Maku, who held a parallel rally at Endehu on the same day Senator Ewuga was being presented by the elders at the Eggon Community Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon.
