Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to re-arraign former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu on April 16.
Kalu who is standing trial for money laundering and corruption to the tune of N5.6bn will be appearing for the second time.
The former governor was first arraigned on July 27, 2007 at the federal high court, Abuja, on a 107-count charge of money laundering and diversion of public funds.
The trial could not commence for the past eight years because Kalu challenged the criminal charges against him at various court.
Kalu had filed an application before the Appeal Court, asking for his trial to be stopped but his appeal was declined.
