EFCC quizzes Bukola Saraki, interrogation continues today


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Monday quizzed a former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki.

The Senator has earlier in the month denied that he was invited for questioning by the Agency.

DailyPost gathered that the Commission in an invitation letter, signed by its Director of Operations, Olaolu Adegbite and dated July 25, 2013 with reference No. CR: 3000/EFCC/ABJ/EG/VOL.12/97 and sent through the Clerk of the National Assembly summoned Saraki for questioning.

The letter with the heading “Investigation Activities on Senator Bukola Saraki”, reads in part: “The EFCC is investigating a case of fraud involving the above Distinguished Senator. We accordingly seek your kind assistance to release him to report to the undersigned at Idiagbon House, No 5 Fomella Street, Wuse 2, Abuja at 10 am on July 31, 2013 in furtherance of the investigation.”

The interrogation it was learnt bothers on loans and bonds he collected during his eight-year tenure as a governor and the failure of Societe Generale Bank, a defunct bank owned by the senator’s father, late Dr Olusola Saraki to pay back the loan.

The senator was released last night and asked to report for further interrogation today.
