Former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff has dismissed recent as untrue reports that his house was raided by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday evening.

Speaking with Mr. Inuwa Bwala, who is the spokesman of the embattled factional PDP National Chairman, he told DAILY POST that he was not aware of any raid in any of Sheriff’s houses in Abuja or Maiduguri.

According to him, the rumour in Maiduguri was the handiwork of some mischief makers who did not want to give up fighting Sheriff.

He said, “This is the handiwork of some political elements who have been fighting Sheriff, by again attempting to plant stories in the newspapers like they did before over and over, but it is nothing to worry about, they have again failed. They cannot continue to fool the people who know the truth about Sheriff by now, especially the people of Borno state.”

Bwala said that the last time Sheriff was invited by the EFCC, he honored the invitation and nothing was found incriminating against him.

“Like I said, some politicians are only trying to ridicule themselves by attempting to plant such stories against him again and again. But they will continue to fail. If they could not achieve anything in the past, I don’t think they can achieve anything now.

“We do not want to join issues with those people who are pursuing their selfish political interest. I believe many people in Borno and indeed in Nigeria know who the bad guys are. We will continue on the path of justice and truth as we are confident to always prove them wrong”, he said.
