EFCC declares former Kogi Governor wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday declared former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, wanted.

He is being accused conspiracy, stealing and misappropriation of public funds of over N4 billion belonging to the state, while the was Governor between 1999 and 2003.

Mr Wilson Uwujaren, Acting Head, Media and Publicity of the agency said “anyone having useful information about the whereabouts of the suspect to notify its offices in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Kano and Enugu; or report at the nearest police station.”

The EFCC said it was forced to act as Audu repeatedly refused to honour invitations to appear before it. An attempt by operatives of the commission to arrest the former Governor on December 11, 2012, at his 32, Sulaiman Barau Street, Asokoro, failed.

The Supreme Court had on November 23, 2012, dismissed an application filed by the ex-governor to restrained the EFCC from prosecuting him.
