The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal office, on Friday arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters.
A statement signed by Zainab Sani Ahmed, Head Media EFCC Kaduna Zonal, said the suspects, ranging between 20 and 33 years were apprehended around 5 a.m in their rented apartment along Ihejirika Close, Becky, Karu, Nasarawa State.
The suspected yahoo boys, among whom was a lady, were operating around Mararaba, Nyanya and Karu axis, Nasarawa State/FCT.
The statement said the suspects were arrested following an intelligence leading to a sting operation.
It said one of the suspects posed as an engineer working with Exxon Mobil, the rest used fake identities to defraud unsuspecting people within and outside Nigeria.
The suspects, according to the statement included Peter Olu Tsetimi, Ogunbiyi Adekunle A, Emuze Omosigho Emmanuel, Isaac Daro Obozokhai.
Others were Samuel Nana-Kofi Eruese, Edward Yusuf and Peace Manayin. Items recovered from them included exotic watches/necklaces, expensive phones, ipads, laptops and several fraudulent documents.
Further investigation is ongoing, as well as items and documents recovered will be subjected to forensic analysis.
The statement said they will soon be charged to court.
